(Þýtt af Google) Dásamleg rækjusúpa með dökku brauði í hádeginu! Frábær matur og mjög góð þjónusta! (Upprunalegt) Wonderful shrimp soup with dark bread for lunch! Great food and very good service!

I stayed at a lake-facing room with nice view (but you wont open the window and enjoy the view long cause it was freezing). On the whole, I enjoyed my comfortable and clean room and there was much space for me to lay my suitcases open. I had breakfast and dinner at the hotel and both were excellent. I ordered fish and duck leg for dinner. Though I could not say the dishes were beautifully present, they tasted unexpectedly delicious.

This review is for the restaurant - flavors were very good, but textures could be improved. Sushi rice was mushy on the outside and hard on the inside. Ice cream was more like gelato, but with so much gum it was amoeba like. Menu said dessert came with whipped cream and berries, which was quite appealing to us, but alas it did not turn out this way. Despite these things, I am happy we went and I would return. I would just have different expectations. Presentation was beautiful. Portions were generous. Serving staff was great.

Our stay at the hotel didn't start well. We received our room keys activated for one night, even though we had a booking for two nights. The receptionist didn't seem to realize. When we arrived at our room, the door was open and all bed lined and bins were in a pile. It seemed the room had been cleaned and not put in order. This was the same for another three rooms in the same floor. We went to the reception, where they confirmed our thoughts. We didn't get an apology till new rooms on a different floor were assigned to us. When we arrived in the new room, we saw it wasn't the same type and with two single beds instead of a double bed, as we had requested with the booking and when asked at the start of the check in. We checked again with the receptionist, who again didn't apologize for this and gave as option putting the beds together or getting another different room on a level lower than the main floor. We kept the room as we were fed up with the waist of time and how they handled a situation they had created. Breakfast was good, rooms clean and hotel nice.

So this is not a five star hotel. It's a three star hotel that outperforms the category. Comfortable beds, good sized rooms, nice Lakeview, responsive service, and one of the best if not the best of the eight breakfast buffets we had on our Iceland trip. The word guesthouse in the name does it a disservice. We stayed at four guesthouses an four hotels. This is definitely a hotel with a lobby, restaurant and guest services.
